SiteOS Search is free, with monthly credits; operational limits apply, including up to 200 pages per crawl. Algolia Grow includes 10,000 search requests and 100,000 records a month; usage above that is billed.

Meilisearch offers a 14-day Cloud trial. Typesense’s quoted single-node configuration includes its first 720 hours and 10 GB free. Both open-source engines are free to self-host and operate yourself.

Typesense’s documentation scraper runs on your own infrastructure, and its analytics aggregate queries and events for reporting you build.

The semantic search, AI answer and self-hosting rows were checked against each vendor’s official pages on 13 Oct 2026. Algolia NeuralSearch needs the Elevate plan; AI answers need your own LLM provider in Algolia Agent Studio, Meilisearch, where the chat API is experimental, and Typesense. Meilisearch Enterprise features use BUSL 1.1 or a commercial license.
